Blinkenshell - Free UNIX Shell Accounts!

Translations: FrançaisStart/FR - SvenskaStart/SV - DeutschStart/DE - SerbianStart/SR - SuomiStart/FI

Hi there, and welcome to Blinkenshell.org! This is a free UNIX shell provider. Here you can get your own personal shell account on a Linux Server for free! The only requirements is that you actively participate in our community and follow the rules and guidelines.

Blinkenshell is an online community with helpful and friendly users who are curious to learn more about interesting technologies and computers. You can read more about Blinkenshell here: About Blinkenshell.

This is a great place to be if you are looking for somewhere to learn more about UNIX, networking, programming or meet other people with similar interests as yours. For some common usage scenarios of a shell account, take a look here: UsageScenarios.

Blinkenshell is a mature shell provider, the service has been online for over a year and a half and there are more than 200 user accounts registered. We're still accepting new members of course, if you're interested in signing up for an account take a look at the Signup Info.

Keep in mind that the server is located in my basement and is not intended for any commercial use. It doesn't cost anything to use and does not provide any guaranteed uptime, availability, quality of service or any warranty. This is a hobby project!

If you have any questions or just want to talk to us, come on in and join our chat room! (IRC: #blinkenshell @ irc.allshells.net)

Current events

  • Everything up and running, we are accepting new registrations.
  • All users now have a userpage on the wiki (CategoryHomepage), and it's possible to use your signup account to log in to the wiki again. Blog entry

  • Planet_Blinkenshell - an aggregation of blogs of Blinkenshell's members. Here you can read about news/changes on Blinkenshell (my blog) and random postings from other members.
